CarePayment Appoints Thomas Nelson as Chief Financial Officer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. July 7th, 2026 Today, CarePayment named Thomas Nelson as Chief Financial Officer. Thomas joins the executive leadership team as the company continues to expand its patient financing platform and grow its partnerships with health systems nationwide.

As CarePayment’s provider partnerships grow in both number and scope, the company is building the operational and financial leadership to support that scaled growth. Thomas’ appointment is an integral part of that effort. He will oversee CarePayment’s financial operations and strategy as well as legal, compliance, and human resources, ensuring the company’s financial infrastructure keeps pace with its growth.

With nearly two decades of experience across healthcare and corporate finance, Thomas brings the operational depth and financial fluency this role requires. Most recently, he served as CFO at ProxsysRx for nine years. Prior to that, he held progressive leadership roles at Surgical Care Affiliates and earlier positions at EBSCO Industries and Wachovia Securities.

“Thomas’ depth of experience across healthcare, finance, and strategic growth will be instrumental as we continue to scale and strengthen our business,” said Ed Caldwell, Chief Executive Officer.

Thomas will report to Ed Caldwell and begin transitioning into the role immediately.

“CarePayment has built a strong platform and a reputation that speaks for itself in this industry,” said Thomas. “The business is in a great place and I’m ready to get to work supporting what comes next.”
