How Do I Qualify?
HSA Eligibility
To open an HSA, you must be enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), a plan with a higher deductible than a traditional insurance plan.* This is where an HSA becomes quite useful.
To qualify for an health savings account, you must meet all these requirements:
- Must be covered by a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
- Cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return
- Cannot have any other health coverage, including: enrollment in another health plan, Medicare, or military/veteran health benefits.

*A Health Savings Account may only be opened and contributed to by an eligible individual as defined by the Internal Revenue Code rules and regulations. You are solely responsible for determining your eligibility to open and contribute to an HSA and the eligibility of any distribution from the HSA.
