Americans rank healthcare costs as their number one financial burden, according to GOBankingRates’ survey. The results also found U.S. adults selecting healthcare costs twice as often as any other financial burden including social security, income benefits and tax increases. Baby boomers are the most concerned with healthcare costs while Gen Xers are increasingly stressed by the economic issue. Women are more likely than men to rank healthcare costs as the top financial burden for the U.S.; specifically, 33% of women selected this economic issue compared to 25% of men.

Prices for Healthcare Vary Widely Across States, Even Nearby Cities

A recent study conducted by the Health Care Cost Institute found states across the country are charging various prices for the same healthcare service. According to Healthcare Finance News, five states have the highest average healthcare costs. Two of these five states, Wisconsin and New Hampshire, have prices that are twice the national average. The study also found variations in prices among cities within the same state.

Patients’ No. 1 Complaint? Front-Desk Staff

Becker’s Hospital Review reports 98 percent of patient complaints are focused on physicians’ customer service. These complaints include issues with the waiting room, billing problems, and doctors’ running behind schedule. However, the physicians’ clinical experience was well received.
